The Sales Manager - Specialist plays an integral part in the success of both the sales team and the hotel. The ideal candidate is a high energy, highly organized, big-picture thinker, who is knowledgeable of the hotel’s strategies, and someone who thinks outside of the box to provide creative solutions to all aspects of their job.

The Sales Manager - Specialist is a jack-of-all-trades, who wears many hats. The primary responsibility of this role is supporting the sales team in a number of ways. Some examples include: qualifying incoming leads, making business decisions on which leads to pursue, identifying business development opportunities that will help the fill the hotel’s need periods, planning and executing site visits, managing various administrative tasks, and providing marketing support.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Qualifying Business:

  • Monitor and qualify incoming sales leads and make business decisions on which leads should be pursued

  • Work closely with Director of Sales and Associate Director of Sales to review business opportunities that require additional analysis

  • Make recommendations to Sales Managers for dates/rates/space for group business

  • Communicate with the sourcing agent/client during the inquiry stage to further qualify RFPs

  • Be familiar with the property’s need periods, to assist in filling low demand dates

  • Site Visits:

  • Coordinates and executes all site visits at the hotel for out-of-market and non-deployed accounts (includes site visits for remote Sales Managers)

  • Meets with walk-in clients and qualifies lead for account/sales manager.

  • Partners with Sales Managers to develop creative aspects of site visit

  • Gathers important customer information from Sales Manager in order to plan appropriately

  • Understands competitor s strengths and weaknesses in order to differentiate the hotel from the competition during the site visit

  • Provides expert knowledge on local destination (e.g., local attractions, events, etc.)

  • Tracks bookings and leads generated from site visits

  • Coordinates familiarization tours (FAMs)

  • Sales Team Support:

  • Support out-of-office Sales Managers as their backup to ensure tentative bookings and new leads maintain momentum. This could include responding to leads and contacting clients for tentative bookings

  • Work closely with the Sales Managers by monitoring their tentative pipeline and check on significant bookings that would positively impact the hotel’s strategic goals

  • Works with Sales Managers to assist with client follow-up, traces, etc

  • Sales administration tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Assists Sales Managers in building compelling proposals

  • Assists Sales Managers with blocking space in event management systems

  • Assists Sales Managers with routing paperwork to various departments

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attends and facilitates pre-planning visits to establish consistent customer communication.

  • Represents Sales Department at staff meetings and department meetings

  • Provides marketing support, such as creating collateral or proposal templates

Qualifications:

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment

  • Refined verbal and written communication skills

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of hotel sales or comparable experience preferred

  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge

  • Prefer completion of a Hyatt Corporate Management Training Program or equivalent training

  • Prefer selling, negotiating, business writing and presentation skills training
