As the Marketing Communications Manager at Andaz London Liverpool Street, I have the exciting opportunity of bringing the brand to life every single day within the hotel. I am responsible for developing and leading the implementation of the hotel’s marketing communications strategy which includes everything from public relations, e-commerce, social media and strategic partnerships to graphic design, collateral, photography and videography It’s quite a diverse role but what I think is most enjoyable is being able to bring all my skills together to create and execute inspiring events that are true to the Andaz brand, whether that might mean the launch of our Christmas design installation, a themed client party for all of our VIP bookers or a series of horror films screened in our Original Masonic Temple.

Being in charge of all these in-house events, I work closely with various cross-functional teams, such as our PR & Digital agency partners, Sales, Events, Human Resources, Operations, Food & Beverage suppliers, and the international brand team. As Andaz London is the first Andaz hotel and the brand continues to grow across the globe, I work very closely with our corporate office teams in Chicago and Zurich as well as counterparts around the world to ensure all our activities are aligned with Hyatt’s overall corporate marketing strategy and that our marketing objectives for the hotel maximise the hotel’s positive exposure in local, national and international markets.

The old adage that ‘every day is different’ could not be truer when working as the Marketing Communications Manager at Andaz London. I manage the marketing communications strategy for a 267-room lifestyle hotel with seven unique bars and restaurants and fifteen private dining and event spaces. This means that my week can easily look like this; Monday, meeting with our PR agency to discuss media outreach to promote our wedding packages, Tuesday, sitting with our Director of Food & Beverage and Head Chef to design menus for our Japanese restaurant, Wednesday, sourcing local fashion designers/brands to partner with for London Fashion Week, Thursday, attending an all-day strategy meeting with our General Manager and Executive Committee to establish our annual marketing communications budget and evaluate the previous year’s ROI and KPIs and Friday, creating and compiling a quarterly content plan for our social media channels. This I would also say is a quiet week.

What I like most about Andaz London though is the team – not only the Marketing Executive and Marketing Coordinator that I manage but the entire Sales & Marketing team that are more like family than colleagues. Everyone comes from a range of backgrounds and cultures and are an exceptionally motivated team. We all have different roles and responsibilities but we’re all working towards the same goal.
