Hyatt Rooms Manager in LOS ANGELES, California


The Shay, is coming soon to Culver City's Ivy Station. Located at the intersection of creativity and comfort is this six-story, 148- room, boutique hotel where guests can experience a thriving hub of arts, entertainment and technology.

Ivy Station, is a 500,000- square foot mixed-use transit oriented development anticipated to open October 2021. In addition to The Shay, Ivy Station is comprised of a 240,000- square foot office building already leased to WarnerMedia, 200 apartments, 50,000 square feet of ground floor retail and restaurant space, 2 acres of publicly accessible outdoor space and 1,500 below-grade parking spaces. The Shay and Ivy Station are located right on the Culver City stop of the Metro E Line, running from Downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.

The Shay and Ivy Station bring much desired amenities to the growing and thriving neighborhood. Greatly anticipated features include The Shay's rooftop pool deck and lounge, 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, a neighborhood restaurant, a fireside lounge, and an active game room. For those athletes in the house, our state of the art fitness center features both Peloton and TRX in outdoor and indoor spaces.

The Rooms Manager is dynamic leadership role that bridges Housekeeping with the Front Desk and Guest Services, which includes: staff training, interdepartment communications, and staff scheduling. Rooms Managers should possess strong communication skills, enjoy team building, and demonstrate leadership abilities. In addition to assisting in the operation of the Front Office & Housekeeping operation, this position will respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and ensure that appropriate action is taken to guarantee guest satisfaction. This position reports to the hotel Director of Rooms.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the hotel’s Front Office and Housekeeping operations

  • Develop and recommend the budget, labor cost plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans

  • Maintain guest room inventory

  • Motivate, encourage and develop a colleague culture that reflects Hyatt and The Shay’s Service Standards

  • Perform all tasks of a Guest Service and or Housekeeping colleague as needed to facilitate service

  • Maintain excellent communication within the Rooms Teams various departments

  • Maintain information on prices, rates, specials, packages, programs, etc, while ensuring all staff are trained in all areas

  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve guest complaints to a high standard

  • Create expectations, lead and collaborate with colleagues to be our best, manage processes, and hold people accountable for the agreed upon activities and time tables

  • Insures proper staffing levels for customer service goals

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

  • With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred - Service oriented style with professional presentations skills

  • At least 2 years progressive management experience within the Rooms Division of a hotel

  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
