Chef Whitney Otawka’s Signature Restaurant & Wine Bar focuses on ingredient driven fare, highlighting the unique and wild character of the Georgia Coast. Elevated technique drives the cooking where sustainable seafood and seasonal vegetables are front and center, retaining a fun and approachable atmosphere. This restaurant offers three meals a day.

Piles of ripe, seasonal vegetables and wood fired seafood adorn the guests’ tables in a multitude of styles from small plates to convivial whole fish and oyster platters.

We are looking for a Chef de Cuisine with a passion for excellence, an eye for detail, a love of local products and a deep respect for colleagues from stewards to cooks to farmers. The CDC will work closely with Executive Chef Whitney Otawka to develop a strong, mindful and engaged culinary team capable of providing exceptional dining experiences to Savannah’s residents and visitors, from pre-beach breakfasts to social oyster dinners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Commitment to quality and excellence

  • Passion for food, culture, and the arts

  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and manage a team with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

  • Ability to listen, communicate, and make connections

  • Develop and implement creative restaurant menus and products while monitoring costs

  • The ability to manage the kitchen team, ensuring that direction, guidance, and mentorship is provided, and quality standards are achieved

  • Perform purchasing responsibilities with outside vendors and with special focus on forming relationships with local producers

  • Assisting the executive chef and hotel management team with administrative tasks associated with the culinary and banquets department.

  • Minimum 2 years of culinary and management experience

  • 1 year working with live fire cooking a plus

  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time, and frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Flexibility with a schedule that includes evenings, holidays and extended hours
