The Recreation Leader provides unique experiential recreation opportunities for all guests of Stowe Mountain Lodge. She/he serves as Kid’s Camp Leaders as well as Guides/Facilitators for group and adult activities. In addition, provides sincere service through actions that display self-confidence, grace and courtesy to guests and colleagues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists developing and implementing all Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Holiday’s activities.

  2. Is creative and proactive, with new programming ideas and analyses current programs.

  3. Provides personalized experiential recreation opportunities to all guests.

  4. Provides activity leadership for both indoor and outdoor activities

  5. Provides age appropriate activities and ensure appropriate supervision of children according to state, legal, and safety guidelines

  6. Leads individual, small group, and large group activities, games, and instructional classes

  7. Teaches skills which will nurture activity success

  8. Creates new opportunities to expose guests to unique experiences

  9. Assists Spa and Wellness staff as requested

  10. Works with other departments to ensure proper communication of recreation opportunities

  11. Ensures a consistent, seamless, luxurious and recreational experience.

  12. Takes activities reservations when needed.

  13. Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.

  14. Is knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and Resort policies.

  15. Solicits guest feedback via guest comment cards and acknowledges guest preferences for future visits.

  16. Answers the telephone in a professional manner and assists guests with any questions.

  17. Prepares requests for replacement of equipment, fixtures, etc. and follows up to ensure completion of request.

  18. Is able to work well with hands on physical tasks.

  19. Is able to walk, run, climb, swim, see, hear, speak, etc.

  20. Is able to demonstrate activities as needed including walking, running, climbing, jumping and swimming.

  21. Addresses all guest feedback with the utmost confidence, grace and concern for their satisfaction.

  22. Creates cost saving controls,ensures economical and safe use of supplies and equipment.

  23. Upholds all safety standards of Stowe Mountain Lodge and Destination Hotels and Resorts.

  24. Is able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

  25. Is able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.

  26. Is able to stand/walk up to 6-8 hours per day.

  27. Is ateam playerandinteracts with all guests and fellow Associates in a positive and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in Education or recreation preferred.

  • 2 year experience with outdoor recreation leadership or child care/camp programs.

  • Experience in high volume establishments.

  • Ability to be active in outdoor adventure activities all day

  • Able to work in any and all weather when needed

  • Outdoor technical experience is a plus

  • Naturalist experience is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Attention to details

  • Customer service experience.

  • Strong organizational and time management discipline.

  • Understanding of hospitality operating systems.

  • Solid judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Operate effectively in stressful situations.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
