Hyatt Sunriver Resort Personal Trainer at Sage Springs Spa in BEND, Oregon

Description:
The Personal Trainer is responsible for performing Personal Training sessions and private classes for the members and guests. The Personal Trainer must be knowledgeable of all fitness offerings at the Club, hold current certifications and have previous training experience. S/he must possess excellent customer service skills in order to provide the highest quality environment and instruction that will meet the needs of our guests in the area of health and wellness. The Personal Trainer will maintain the AAA Four Diamond standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Is on time for all shifts, and prompt with each appointment and perform all sessions with total focus on safety and the needs of the member or guest
  • Evaluates clients by having him/her answer all health history screening questions
  • Ascertains if client must secure medical clearance (i.e., age over 64, high blood pressure, any serious injury, pregnancy, etc.)
  • Develops and designs client specific exercise programs
  • Educates clients on proper techniques to avoid injury
  • Walks clients through exercise routine, ensuring total comprehension
  • Demonstrates exercises/routines as needed
  • Plays an integral role in client development and retention
  • Monitors and tracks client progress
  • Motivates and inspires clients to achieve their fitness goals
  • Incorporates/supervises stretching routines into all exercise routines
  • Keeps records of client needs and preferences and the services provided
  • Teaches club fitness classes as required
  • Promotes and sells spa services
  • Ensures the privacy of all guests
  • Assists with maintaining fitness equipment
  • Refers guests with medical issues to their physician
  • Assists with the promotion of fitness services at member/guest orientations
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of fitness trends
  • Performs Locker Room Attendant duties as required
  • Provides general resort information for guests
  • Attends appropriate resort and departmental meeting
  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special event

Qualifications:

_EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:_

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two year college degree with concentration on physical education, exercise science or allied health preferred
  • At least one year previous experience in a similar setting preferred
  • Valid national certifications in personal training
  • At least one year customer service experience required

_JOB REQUIRMENTS:_

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Must have a strong passion for assisting guests in attaining their fitness and wellness goals
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Must have strong knowledge of fitness industry
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • Must be highly detailed orientated
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent listening skills
  • Must possesses excellent communication skills
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Must always ensure a teamwork environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

_WORKING CONDITIONS:_

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing;
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally and rarely 100 pounds (with assistance).
  • Must be able to twist, bend, kneel and squat frequently; crawl occasionally
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements and simple grasping constantly; pushing & pulling, squeezing and overhead reaching frequently
