Hyatt 2nd Assistant Golf Superintendent in CHARLESTON, South Carolina

This position is responsible for the daily golf course operations and maintenance. This positionSupervises/Manages the staff and performs related work.

Essential Functions * Day to day management and supervision of greens keeping staff * Fulfill the range of duties of an equipment operator/greens keeper * Train staff * Irrigation design, installation and repair * Drainage design, installation and repair * Manage irrigation responsibilities * Manage the use of chemicals and fertilizers * Apply and supervise application of chemicals and fertilizer * Assist in personnel management and evaluation, to include, but not limited to: Team Member safety and safety training; Personnel discipline; Assign personnel duties; Motivate and appraise staff * Maintain an acceptable grooming and uniform appearance * Consistently acting as a role model for all Wild Dunes Team Members * Assist Golf Course Superintendent in coordinating staff meetings

Team Member is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

Team Members who are hired at Wild Dunes Resort will be verified through the federal E-Verify system.


  • Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, occasionally on uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel & twist on an frequent basis, sometimes for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, squeezing, fine manipulation and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently; overhead reaching occasionally.
  • Must routinely work with solvents
  • Must occasionally work with solvents and in an area with exposure to noise and dust.

Qualifications * High school education or equivalent required * Experience in golf course maintenance required * Degree in Turf Management preferred * Management/supervisory experience preferred * Must be authorized to work in the United States * Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license and meet company driving standards * Must be able to read, write and speak English * Must have a strong technical gasoline and diesel engine background * Excellent equipment operation skills * Must have required tools of the trade * Must have excellent mechanical understanding and ability * Must have excellent leadership skills * Must be a positive example for team * Must have exceptional detail in follow-up * Must be able to work well under pressure * Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbal and written * Must possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written * Must be able to effective teach and train staff * Must be professional in appearance and demeanor * Must have excellent listening skills * Must always ensure a teamwork environment * Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays * Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and Team Members * Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner * Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
