Hyatt Landscaper in CHARLESTON, South Carolina


Summary: This position completes assigned work orders and helps in the maintenance and repairs of all areas of the property including collecting and disposal of trash, mowing grass, trimming trees, planting flowers, watering plants, fertilizing, raking and cleaning flower beds. Also responsible for cleaning sidewalks, streets, stairs and ramps, maintaining sprinkler system, snow/ice removal if necessary, painting and other assigned duties.

The Landscaper shall always strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

Essential job Functions:

  • Operates powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, roto-tillers, brush clippers, lift trucks, trenching equipment, sod cutters and pruning saws

  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding and removing thatch

  • Trims and edges around flower beds, walk ways and walls

  • Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge and brunch trimmers and axes

  • Maintains ground tools and equipment

  • Mixes and sprays fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides onto grass, shrubs and trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders

  • Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters and other ground features

  • Irrigates plants/flowers

  • Assist with laying sod, re-sods, lawn repairs, installation and repairs of irrigation systems

Colleague is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.


Experience & Education:

  • Must have basic knowledge in the grounds and general maintenance fields (entry level)

  • At least one year of hands-on landscape experience where responsibility has included large areas to maintain, working as a team and at times independently preferred

  • Must have the ability to evaluate a situation, diagnose the problem, and develop a plan of action to repair or correct the situation in a timely and professional manner

Job Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Must have flexible schedule, able to work weekends and holidays


Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time;

  • Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 30 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs. with assistance;

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat frequently; kneel or crawl occasionally; walk on uneven surfaces; infrequently climb a ladder

  • Primarily an outside job - must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat); with exposure to chemicals and dust.

  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements and simple grasping constantly; pushing & pulling, squeezing and overhead reaching frequently.
