Hyatt Maintenance Technician in CHARLESTON, South Carolina


Summary: Responsible for providing a wide variety of Maintenance Repairs of the highest quality referred to as “Service Requests / Preventive Maintenance Request”. Responsible for the routine scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) of the mechanical equipment as assigned. This position requires extensive guest contact; the service and attitude must be of the highest standards, quality and professionalism. This position is empowered to exceed expectations and provide a solution to any challenge the guest may encounter doing their stay, which will promote return visits and build brand recognition. Responsible for responding to “House Calls” (internal request for services) with the same level of service.

The Maintenance Technician shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

Essential job Functions:

  • Perform “Guest Requests” asassigned by the engineering team

  • Respond to “Guest Requests”within15 minutes/ House Callswithin 30 minutesof receiving therequest.

  • Perform “House Calls” asinstructed by the engineering leadership team.

  • Track calls in HotSOS by roomnumber, time the request was received, response time and completion time.

  • Communicate the above criteria tothe dispatch upon completion.

  • Perform routine scheduled PM’s onassigned guestrooms and public areas and document in HotSOS.

  • Perform routine inspections andrepairs on VIP rooms as assigned by the engineering leadership team withina timely manner of at least 30 minutes before their scheduled arrivaltime.

  • Maintain the cleanliness andorganization of assigned shops, mechanical areas, tool carts and tools.

  • Always clean up after each task;never leave a mess for housekeeping to clean up.

  • Report any unsafe condition to yourmanager immediately

  • Support and ensure compliancewith all policies and procedures as designated by Wild Dunes Resort.

  • Conduct electronic lock repairs,programming and interrogations as assigned.

  • Conduct troubleshooting,programming and replacement of guestroom televisions and equipment.

  • Conduct repairs and maintenanceto plumbing, electrical, mechanical equipment, and facility as needed orassigned.

  • Track all inventory and maintainestablished inventory level.

  • Conduct walk-throughs of hoteland surrounding grounds for lighting, quality, safety and generalcondition and complete any documentation as required or assigned.

Colleague is held accountable for all duties of thisjob and other duties as assigned.


Experience & Education:

  • Must have basic mechanical skillsin plumbing, electrical and general repairs.

  • At least 2 years in thehospitality or service industry preferred.

  • High School graduate or Technical/TradeSchool preferred

Job Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in theUnited States

  • Must have valid South CarolinaDriver’s license and meet resort driving standards

  • Must be able to drive guestssafely in extreme weather conditions (rain, wind, fog)

  • Must understand the usage of handtools and some power tools.

  • Must be able to read, write andspeak English

  • Must be able to work well underpressure

  • Must be able to accurately followinstructions, both verbally and written

  • Must be highly detailedorientated

  • Basic mathematical skills

  • Must be able to work in a fast-pacedenvironment

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand on feetthroughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking;

  • Must be able to occasionallylift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance;

  • Must be able to perform simplegrasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movementsfrequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally.

  • Must be able to bend, squat,crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis;

  • While primarily an indoor job,must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain,wind, heat);

  • Must be able to climb stairsoccasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions(rain, wind, heat).
