Summary The PTO Lean Operations Manager is part of the Property Management System Technical Operations (PTO) team. The PTO team maintains the Opera Property Management system for Hyatt hotels around the world. The PTO Lean Operations Manager leads a group within the PTO team that helps optimize and streamline the work done by other members of the PTO team.
Responsibilities * *Process Improvement * Learn the processes for delivering projects on the PTO Projects team * Learn the processes for delivering technical support on the PTO Support team * Learn how the Opera Property Management System is used by Hyatt’s hotels * Work with PTO team members to identify and implement improvements to process and tools * Watch how the tools owned by the PTO Lean Operations team get used by other team members to find optimizations with process and tools * Support and encourage a team culture of incorporating Lessons Learned after projects and Support incidents * Assist in the development of improvement roadmaps Automation * Process improvements will frequently take the form of automation * Oversee the maintenance and enhancements to existing automation code base * Manage the development of new tools to automate manual processes on the PTO team * Collaborate with engineers to work through technical problems * Review/establish/enforce good coding practices. (E.g., code structure, version control, version promotion, etc.) * Review existing automation for needed optimizations. (E.g., error handling, logging, restructuring, etc.) Communications * Responsible for development of functional, process, and technical documentation * Responsible for status reporting to PTO Director and external teams * Responsible for cross-training the changes made by the PTO Lean Operations team People Management * Manage a team of 3 engineers focused on PTO Lean Operations * Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports * Collaborate with people outside of the PTO team doing Automation and DevOps to drive best practices to and from the automation of the PTO team Reporting * Responsible for measuring the baseline and improvements due to enhancements * Responsible for tracking, trending, and reporting on the deliverables of the PTO Lean Operations team * Assists with tracking, trending, and reporting on the deliverables of other PTO teams * Assists PTO Support team with tools for monitoring, tracking, trending, and alerting of Production performance and outages Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt core values The position responsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed as all encompassing. Qualifications Experience * Experience leading continuous improvement teams * Experience leading development projects * Experience leading projects centered on the automation tools listed below Education * Technical college degree preferred Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job * Automation: Ansible, PowerShell, Rundeck, Packer, Jenkins, Terraform * Virtualization/Containers: vSphere, Azure, Docker * Development Support Tools: Jira, Bitbucket * Operating Systems: Windows System internals, Linux * Middleware: Websphere * Database: Oracle SQL, PL/SQL * Networking fundamentals: VIP’s, firewalls, DNS * Productivity: MS Office, Confluence, Smartsheet Additional Comments and Requirements * Strong knowledge of the automation tools listed above * Must have a least a working knowledge of many of the technologies listed above and strong in a least some of them (or tools similar to them) * Strong leadership and management skills * Capable of working independently under ambiguous and/or changing conditions * Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter * Excellent communication skills; comfortable in front of all levels of the organization
