The Event Planning Manager acts a liaison between the guest and the hotel to provide direction and organization during execution of meeting and banquet events. The EPM will be available to guests throughout the event progression to solve problems and to suggest alternatives to previous arrangements. They will also directly serve on-site group and catering guests in a proactive manner working with the logistics of group room blocks, food and beverage, public meeting space, and billing processes. This position plays an important role in the achievement of re-booking group business for future dates while demonstrating effective up-selling skills to obtain maximum profit by developing and maintaining relationships with meeting planners.

Qualifications:o A minimum of 1-3 years of hotel event sales/event planning, completed Event Management trainee program or comparable experience preferred o Bachelor's degree and/or 2 years of hotel and/or food & beverage experience preferred o Must be experienced in general computer knowledge and programs o A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment o Refined verbal and written communication skills o Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally & in writing, with public and other Team Members o Present a professional appearance and confidence o Candidates should be extremely detail oriented, organized and be able to handle a fast paced environment o Strong time management & multi-tasking skills and ability to work well under pressure o Understanding of negotiation and interpretation of contracts o Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, banquets, accounting, restaurants and engineering o Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to exceed standards and expectations o Knowledge of meeting room set-ups and capabilities, sleeping room configurations and types o Respond to requests by Meeting Planners immediately o Create, review and revise rooming lists and VIP lists o Manage meeting space and adjust in order to ensure maximum potential revenue o Maintain price integrity both in rooms and food and beverage, using revenue management o Pre-check room setups, prior to arrival of the group o Relay accurate forecast information for rolling forecasts o Interact with outside planners, vendors for event set-up o Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business o Responsible for increasing overall revenue per attendee by upselling techniques, rooms management strategies, value added offerings and other creative methods o Experience creating and writing menus to fit event’s needs.
