The Grand Hyatt San Antonio is seeking an Event Planning Manager to join our exciting and fun Events team. We are conveniently located in the heart of Downtown San Antonio on the River Walk. We boast 1,003 guestrooms and 115,000 square feet of event space and looking for a motivated and creative leader to take advantage of a unique opportunity to impress and delight our future groups. The Event Planning Manager acts a liaison between the guest and the hotel to provide direction and organization during execution of meeting and banquet events. The EPM will be available to guests throughout the event progression to solve problems and to suggest alternatives to previous arrangements. They will also directly serve on-site group and catering guests in a proactive manner working with the logistics of group room blocks, food and beverage, public meeting space, and billing processes. This position plays an important role in the achievement of re-booking group business for future dates while demonstrating effective up-selling skills to obtain maximum profit by developing and maintaining relationships with meeting planners.

  • A minimum of 1-3years of hotel event sales/event planning, completed Event Management traineeprogram or comparable experience preferred

  • Bachelor'sdegree and/or 2 years of hotel and/or food & beverage experience preferred

  • Must beexperienced in general computer knowledge and programs

  • A true desire tosatisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment

  • Refined verbaland written communication skills

  • Abilityto communicate effectively, both verbally & in writing, with public andother Team Members

  • Presenta professional appearance and confidence

  • Candidates shouldbe extremely detail oriented, organized and be able to handle a fast pacedenvironment

  • Strongtime management & multi-tasking skills and ability to work well underpressure

  • Understandingof negotiation and interpretation of contracts

  • Havecomprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel;guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, banquets,accounting, restaurants and engineering

  • Demonstratepositive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to exceedstandards and expectations

  • Knowledgeof meeting room set-ups and capabilities, sleeping room configurations andtypes

  • Respondto requests by Meeting Planners immediately

  • Create,review and revise rooming lists and VIP lists

  • Managemeeting space and adjust in order to ensure maximum potential revenue
