Hyatt Bar Manager in SOFIA, Bulgaria

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bar Manager to join our new property in Sofia. Hyatt Regency Sofia will mark the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Bulgaria and will add to the Hyatt group’s growing footprint in Europe.

The hotel will be ideally located in the heart of the Bulgarian capital on Vasil Levski Square. Guests will be within walking distance of the National Assembly, which houses the country’s parliament, as well as many of Bulgaria’s cultural institutions and tourist attractions, including the Monument to Vasil Levski, Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, National Academy of Arts, SS. Cyril and Methodius National Library, and Sofia University.

Expected to open in Q4 2019, Hyatt Regency Sofia will cater to the contemporary expectations of guests and meeting planners. The 183-room hotel will feature a New York- style Italian restaurant, lobby lounge and market as well as a penthouse event space with unrivaled city views. The hotel will serve as the perfect venue offering 1,200 square meters of flexible meeting and event facilities. A fitness center and spa will support the well-being of guests. About the role:

Reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Bar Managerwill be responsible for the day to day running of the Bar. He/she will plan, direct and oversee all bar operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency.

Responsibilities: **

  • Meet guests and ensure Bar team provides excellent service and continually strives to exceed expectations

  • Ensure that service and other standards according to SOPs are adhered to

  • Ensure cash handling procedures are followed and all stock items are managed

  • Ensure that the Bar team is continually trained in product knowledge, all menus and Hotel initiatives

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages to meet set standards

  • Coach staff in upselling and customer service to achieve revenue goals

  • Be aware of and participate in the promotion of hotel initiatives, special packages, marketing and PR strategies and promotions

  • Ensure adherence to stock control procedures and check that stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce waste

  • Ensure preparation, knowledge and compliance among all staff

  • Oversee staff training and carry out on-the-job training where required

  • Utilize supervisory skills, effective communication, and motivation to maximize associate productivity and satisfaction

  • Ensure that the highest possible standard of personal hygiene, dress, appearance and conduct is always maintained

  • Ensure effective rostering practices to maximize efficiency in the Outlet

  • Follow, implement and continually update the SOPs for the Department

* Experience in the management of a bar or beverage service operation, and planning and executing multifaceted events

  • Natural business developer, able to drive sales and bring in the right crowds to prominent events

  • Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising and accounting

  • Demonstrate knowledge of wine, spirits, mixology and industry trends

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership skills, effective communication, and effectiveness in providing exceptional customer service

  • Ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems

  • Fluent local language

  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential for this role
