Hyatt Director of Sales and Marketing in STOWE, Vermont
** Job Overview:
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of revenue generation for the Lodge at Spruce Peak, Club at Spruce Peak and Stowe Country Club. The position focuses heavily on driving revenue through overnight visitation from groups, conferences, events and leisure business. Oversees marketing efforts for these entities and collaborates closely with the Spruce Peak Realty team to develop community events, promotions and marketing efforts. Employs a collaborative approach to build revenues in each business unit including Food & Beverage, Golf, Spa and Retail. A key member of the Executive Committee, this position is highly visible with ownership, corporate leadership and the greater community. Manages a team of nine; reports to the Managing Director.
Essential Functions:* * * Develops annual business plan and sales objectives for all key business units * Act in a consultative capacity to the Managing Director and other members of the Executive Committee on sales/marketing issues; provide advice and guidance to ensure optimal marketing effectiveness, confer with department managers to continually develop product offerings, marketing needs, methodologies and resources, to promote new/improved products and to solicit feedback of overall sales/marketing efforts * Organize and direct all sales and marketing efforts towards attainment of resort and company objectives and operational goals. Manage all financial aspects of sales & marketing efforts * Develop strategies for forecasting and analyzing sales/marketing needs and developing effective product responses, delivery systems and methods for measuring and evaluating results * Prepare, develop and execute all marketing plans to provide direction and specific plans of action * Develop, implement and evaluate short and long-term tactics and programs focused on customer and market needs/conditions in order to ensure the achievement of resort revenue goals * Timely and accurate reporting of sales & marketing data * Support, as necessary, all direct sales efforts of the sales and marketing team to include sales trips, off-property functions and customer entertainment * Provide regular, objective and detailed feedback to each executive committee member in order to maintain an environment of continuous improvement * Constantly explore new products and services, evaluating potential return on investment and enhancement to the resort versus potential costs * Collaborate with Revenue Management team on all revenue maximization and yield management practices throughout the resort * Foster a cooperative work environment, which focuses on trusting relationships, maximum productivity and associate morale * Monitor quality and accuracy of final group sales contracts to ensure proper application of resort deposit, space allocation, yield and policies * Prepare and train Sales Managers in relation to performance benchmarks * Effectively coordinate sales and marketing efforts between sales, food & beverage, rooms, conference services, club, condominiums and all other related departments * Other duties and requirements commensurate with leadership and managerial positions within the company
* College graduate or equivalent industry experience * Experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing; preferably in a complex resort environment * Excellent written / verbal communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to utilize them effectively with guests, peers and associates * Ability to work under stressful conditions and balance multiple commitments simultaneously * Strong customer service aptitude * Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility within the department. * Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate responsibilities effectively * Ability to lead and direct performance of departmental associates and follow through with corrections where needed * Be able to analyze and resolve problems while exercising good judgment and maintaining the best interest of the company * Ability to effectively motivate department associates and maintain a cohesive team while working effectively across departments to achieve company objectives
