Hyatt Lead Pastry Cook in STOWE, Vermont

Job Overview:

The Lead Pastry Cook assists the Pastry Chef in supervising the pastry team and preparing creative deserts, pastries and bake goods in accordance with portion and quality standards specified by Spruce Peak. In addition, provides sincere service through actions that display self-confidence, grace and courtesy to guests and colleagues.

Essential Functions: * Ensures and maintains the highest quality when preparing creative deserts, pastries and bake goods * Performs testing and evaluation of new pastry and dessert recipes * Assists the various line cooks and apprentices in the pastry kitchen * Acknowledges any special requests and prepares the menu item accordingly * Carefully inspects, selects, and uses only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items * Ensures cleanliness of the pastry section, including freezers, fridges, ice-cream machine, etc. * Prepares food using the appropriate portion size, cut and cooking method * Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the engineering department * Assists in developing and implementing strategies for the Kitchen that support the achievement of the Resort’s objectives * Communicates effectively with the Kitchen Staff and the Stewarding Team. * May perform Chef, Cook, or other duties as needed * Maintains a daily log of important information to share with the department * Prioritizes and assigns work following the Chefs guidelines * Upholds all safety standards of Spruce Peak * Is able to communicate verbally and in writing in English * Is able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs * Is able to stand/walk up to 6-8 hours per day

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • 2-4 years cooking experience in a fine dining restaurant

  • Pastry experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to handle food, objects, products and utensils

  • Ability to bend, stoop and kneel

  • Pleasant and attentive personality

  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task

  • Ability to adapt to changing guest needs

  • Ability to operate dishwasher machines
