Hyatt Line Cook in STOWE, Vermont


Job Overview:

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking orders for daily operations in accordance with portion and quality standards specified by Spruce Peak. In addition, provides sincere service through actions that display self-confidence, grace and courtesy to guests and colleagues. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares daily requisition for supplies and food items for production

  • Reads and employs math skills to follow recipes

  • Prepares all food items according to standard recipes

  • Acknowledges any special requests and prepares the menu item accordingly

  • Carefully inspects, selects, and uses only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items

  • Follows the proper storage standards

  • Prepares food using the appropriate portion size, cut and cooking method

  • Is able to butcher fish and/or meats and prepare sauces and stocks

  • Advises supervisor of low inventory items and assists in receiving and storing items

  • Maintains sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and Spruce Peak requirements

  • Cleans entire station at the end of the shift

  • Leaves station in ready to operate condition for next shift

  • Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and/or engineering

  • Assists chefs in any projects that need to be done

  • Communicates effectively with the department managers and restaurant staff

  • Is knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and Spruce Peak policies

  • Is able to communicate verbally and in writing in English

  • Is able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 75 lbs

  • Is able to stand/walk up to 6-8 hours per day

  • Is ateam playerandinteracts with all guests and fellow Associates in a positive and friendly manner


  • Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Cookingexperience preferred in a fine dining restaurant

  • Abilityto handle food, objects, products and utensils

  • Abilityto bend, stoop and kneel
