The Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a dedicated, creative and customer service oriented Second Cook to join the Culinary team. R esponsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
* Ensuring high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation as per Hyatt standards * Able to work varied shifts weekdays, weekends including holidays (early morning, afternoons or evenings; as early as 5:30am or as late as 11:00pm) * Requires good communication skills and knowledge of kitchen production specializing in restaurant service.
* The Cook 2 in our kitchen works to create wonderful menu items for our guests. This position requires a lot of creativity and attention to detail.
* Prepare and service all food items for a la carte and/or buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards * Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions * Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas and kitchen equipment * Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards * Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage * Other duties as assigned The starting wage for this position is $18.35 per hour, after the first six months it will increase to $21.41 per hour, and after one year will be at the full rate of $24.47 per hour.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
o Previous experience in the Culinary field required o Previous hotel or cruise ship experience is an asset o Red Seal certification preferred o Diploma/Certification in Culinary is an asset o Able to work varied shifts weekdays, weekends including holidays (early morning, afternoons or evenings; as early as 5:30am or as late as 11:00pm) o Must have previous line and fine dining experience o Must have BC Food Safe certificate upon commencement of employment o Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities o Highly responsible & reliable o Must have a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment o Must have good communication skills and a good understanding of the English language o Must be capable of multi-tasking o Must be organized and clean o Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals o Must be an excellent team player Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): o Constant standing and walking throughout shift o Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs o Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling o Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
